Contemporary art is distinguished from conventional figurative painting with many factors: the openness to experiment with various paints and other substances the rejection of thoughtful colour, obviously visible brushstrokes, and requiring the viewer to work harder in translating the art, due to the subject matter infrequently hewing to the readily discerned objects like a mountain or a blossom.

The artist that switches into oils in a subsequent period of his job may start with oil paintor he might choose acrylics to the amount of his livelihood. Several things can play this, one of them the comparative deficiency of odor of acrylics compared to acrylic paints.
